Reflecting on 2025 and Looking Ahead to 2026
As we close the chapter on 2025, I am filled with pride and optimism as I reflect on the achievements and progress of the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Colorado (PIIAC). This year has been marked by significant advancements in government affairs, a series of successful events, and strategic developments that have strengthened our community. As we look forward to 2026, let’s take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments and set our sights on the future.
A Year of Unforgettable Events
This year, we hosted the largest InsurEXPO in our history, providing a great opportunity for agents to connect, learn, and grow. The event was a day packed full of innovation and expertise, featuring breakout sessions on topics such as modernizing agencies, cybersecurity, and bridging industry gaps. With the help of Kelly Campbell, we launched the Colorado FAIR Plan at this event, and I am honored to have served as the Chair of its Board.
In April, we held our first Women in Leadership Conference, a day of inspiration and development. The discussions led by industry leaders like Dr. Claire Muselman and Marit Peters were invaluable, as we worked to empower women across the Colorado insurance industry.
Legislative Engagement and Advocacy
Our presence at the Colorado Capitol was stronger than ever. The 2025 legislative session proved challenging, with a constrained budget and strategic bills on the table. However, our advocacy efforts ensured that the voices of independent agents were heard, and we will continue to champion beneficial legislation in the coming year.
In February, PIIAC and its members gathered at the Colorado State Capitol to advocate for independent insurance agents. Members engaged with legislators on key issues, demonstrating commitment to a balanced insurance environment.
Education and Professional Development
PIIAC members benefited from a vast lineup of educational opportunities. With exclusive discounts on the Institutes’ designation programs and access to over 150 free CE courses, our members have never had more opportunity to enhance their knowledge and careers. Our commitment to professional growth is unwavering, as evidenced by the implementation of the Agency Compensation 360 survey, which offers crucial insights for agencies to thrive in a competitive market.
A Look towards 2026
As we prepare for 2026, we anticipate a dynamic legislative session and continued enhancement of events, educational opportunities, market access, and more. We are excited to begin paying 100% commission on all in-house carrier offerings, a move designed to benefit member agencies of all sizes.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the 2025 PIIAC Industry Awards, whose dedication and excellence propel our industry forward. As we welcome the new Board of Directors, I am confident in their ability to guide us towards a successful future.
If you haven’t already, make sure you get registered for the 2026 PIIAC InsurEXPO, to be held on March 12 at the Inverness Denver. You will get to hear from many prominent voices in the industry, meet your fellow insurance agents/PIIAC members, and leave with knowledge you can only get at a PIIAC event.
There are several interesting developments that will be announced at the beginning of the year. Keep an eye out for new membership benefits, leadership development opportunities, and enhancements to our current benefits/education resources.
In closing, I thank each of you for your dedication and commitment to the PIIAC community. Together, we will continue to advance our industry and make 2026 a year of growth and success.
