Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) 

PIIAC is the exclusive Colorado provider of the Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation program. The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors provides practical education for Insurance Professionals. The Society of CIC, a member of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1969 that provides technical knowledge to all areas of the insurance industry. Currently, there are over 31,000 professionals who obtained their designation with more than 65,000 participants in the CIC Program.

Professionals with their CIC designation earn 30% more than their undesignated counterparts.

How do I obtain the CIC designation?

To earn your CIC designation, you must take five CIC courses and pass a comprehensive exam which immediately follows each course. All courses must be completed within a five-year period. One of the CIC courses can be substituted with a CRM or CPRM course to complete the designation. 

How do I maintain the CIC designation?

After receiving the CIC designation, you must attend one course annually.

Yes, all the CIC courses are approved for state continuing education in all states. Colorado specific CE hours are listed below.

What does a typical class schedule look like?

All programs in CO will follow the following schedule:

Day 1:

Registration 7:30am

Class 8am – 5:15pm

Exam Briefing 5:15pm – 5:30pm

Day 2: 

Class 8am – 5pm

Day 3:

Exam 8am – 10am

Can I take the CIC online?
