Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS)

​​​​​​The Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS)​​ continuing education program provides specialized expertise in the fundamentals of professional liability insurance and the more specific nuances of directors and officers (D&O) liability, employment practices liability (EPL), and fiduciary liability exposures and insurance.  The MLIS certification will help you stand out from the competition by understanding these specialized lines often called “management liability” or “executive liability” insurance.

With the MLIS certification behind your name, you make a statement that you understand the complexities of D&O, EPL, fiduciary, and many other professional liability risks and how to insure them.

How do I obtain the MLIS designation?

To obtain the MLIS designation, you complete five core courses.  The designation is valid for a period of 12 months once obtained/completed. After this time period you will have to renew your designation.

How do I maintain the MLIS designation?

To renew your MLIS designation each year, you are required to take one additional online reaccreditation course or attend an approved education event.

What course topic options are available with the MLIS designation?

There are five required courses to earn the MLIS designation. Each course has a multiple-choice exam at the end.

Are continuing education hours available when taking the courses to obtain the MLIS designation?

Yes, most of the MLIS courses are approved for state continuing education in all 50 states. Colorado specific CE hours are listed below. You must request CE when you register for each class and pay the $15 fee to get CE.
