Last week, the U.S. Senate passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a significant piece of legislation that includes a key provision for independent insurance agencies: the permanent extension of the 199A tax deduction for pass-through entities, keeping it at the current 20% rate.
This is a huge win for Colorado’s independent agents. According to the 2024 Agency Universe Study, 86% of independent insurance agencies are structured as pass-through entities and file taxes at the individual rate—meaning this deduction directly impacts the bottom line for most of our members.
