Amid ongoing wildfires, the DOI advises Coloradans to prioritize safety but also prepare for insurance matters. The DOI can assist with insurance queries, claims processes, and provide contact details for insurers. Governor Polis has declared several fires as disaster emergencies, ensuring specific insurance obligations are met, such as providing policy copies within three business days and immediate payouts for contents coverage without inventory. Homeowners and renters should be aware of their policy details, especially regarding additional living expenses (ALE). For any insurance help, residents can contact the DOI’s Consumer Services Team.
