GIVING IS OFTEN THE BEST WAY TO GAIN.
I interviewed and joined the PIIAC board a little over seven years ago. I never expected to give this much of my time, but I must admit that I have gained more than I’ve given. My 36 years in the insurance industry include over 26 years working at a regional captive insurer. 2012 was the year I decided to join the ranks of independent agents. Prior to becoming an independent agent, I had met Barbara Fidler who was the CEO of PIIAC for many years. Joining PIIAC was an easy decision and pathway to meeting people in the independent channel.
Joining the Board of Directors and eventually being the Chair of the Board was a bigger decision and time commitment. We all can agree volunteering feels good. Serving on your PIIAC Board has been a tremendously positive experience for me. It has also made me a much better insurance professional. Additionally, it has led me to great new friendships and relationships with leaders of our industry at the agency and company level.
Foremost among those relationships is the one I’ve made and benefited from with our PIIAC CEO, Bryan Bernier. PIIAC is very fortunate to be led by a leader like Bryan who is industrious, innovative, fearless and always looking to improve our state association. We are lucky to have him, and I have personally learned and gained much from my time working with him on our Board of Directors.
So, to Bryan and all the staff at PIIAC and ASC, as well as our membership, I say THANK YOU!
